Enabling NGOs to make a greater difference

ENCorps is a new program that plans to provide a variety of services to organizations involved in India’s social development sector, such as Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs). The services envisaged include:

• Using NRI business/other professionals in the US to volunteer their skills and time working on short-term projects in India, with NGOs in areas of education, health-care and livelihood. The projects will focus on capacity building - to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness in areas of operations, program/service development, planning, administration, technology, impact management, and so on.
• By providing experienced people resources to educational and health-care institutions – making available needed subject-matter expertise on a project basis for a fee.
• By creating, over time, a shared service capability for NGOs and others for outsourcing their back-office and other routine operations.

There is an acknowledged need on the part of NGOs to enhance their operational abilities and become more efficient and effective. There is a changing demographic of the NRI professionals in the US who are reaching a transitional time in their lives and are considering getting involved in India’ social development sector is some way or the other.

ENCorps’ value proposition is the enormous value of the world-class experience and talent of the NRI professionals to the NGOs and the opportunity for NRIs to derive satisfaction from being able to ‘give back’ in a meaningful way.
